We are Citizens in Support of the Sea Services!

Mission

THE NAVY LEAGUE MISSION:
 

ACTIVE-DUTY SUPPORT: Enhance the morale of active duty personnel and their families.

ADVOCACY: Provide a powerful voice to educate the public and Congress on the importance of strong sea services to our nation’s defense, well-being, and economic prosperity.

YOUTH EDUCATION: Support local youth character building programs, such as the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps and Navy Junior ROTC that expose young people to personal growth based on Honor, Courage, and Commitment.

Placer County Council

Placer County Council was chartered by the Navy League in 1956. The Sacramento Council, also chartered in 1956, merged into the Placer County Council in October 2025, bringing the membership total to 240 in Placer, Sacramento and surrounding counties.

 

Our Key Activities include:

  • Monthly dinner meetings with speakers to keep us well informed.

  • Supporting our four adopted units: USS McCAMPBELL (DDG 85), an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer; Naval Health Clinic at Lemoore Naval Air Station, California, Naval Branch Health Clinic at Naval Air Station, Fallon, Nevada, and Coast Guard Air Station, Sacramento, California.

  • Providing awards to California Maritime Academy, Vallejo, Naval Science Department students.

  • Supporting the Navy JROTC Units at Luther Burbank High School and Yuba City High School, and the Marine Corps JROTC Unit at John F. Kennedy High School.

  • Supporting the Sacramento Sea Cadets, Matthew Axelson Yuba-Sutter Sea Cadets, Shasta Sea Cadets, Ticonderoga Sea Cadets and Gold Country Sea Cadets.

  • Providing scholarships to students in local schools.

  • Providing support to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programs in local schools.
